Poem by Lin Elizabeth

The girl who swallowed the hornets nest
Opens her swollen lips and
Asked if she was going to take the
Queens cake

Honey you’re the only one I need

Bleeds violet into my mouth, leaves claw marks on

This cannot go on further I’m not happy here

The bees have taken rent in a suitcase that’s halfway packed, errant underwear and lingerie

That you’re no longer interested in

Do not feed the dogs, my mother warned me.

Stray don’t only have the intention on staying

Where they are fed, that is the only desired outcome. Nothing more but an empty bowl.
